The job market is slowly coming around and while the openings are not nearly as numerous as a few years ago we're seeing a steady increase in available positions.

We are cautiously optimism for the job market for the remaining year and are starting to hear projections for staff increases in 2011.  it's a perfect time to update your resume, brush up your interviewing skills and get your career on track.  

We are seeing the market for temporary employees, or candidates willing to work temp to perm improve significantly.  If you are between jobs, a temp to perm situation gives you an opportunity to earn some income, prove yourself, and to get a feel for a new Firm before committing to permanent employment.  There is an emerging market for temporary employees at all levels and in every job catagory.

  • Client Accounting Assistant/Coordinator
    Provides client accounting analysis and billing support to part­ners. Coordinates client accounting activity for assigned partners and practice areas to meet service guidelines.
    • Handles multiple complex billing and client analysis projects.
    • Reviews outstanding balance reports and is proactive about trouble spots.Understands and responds to inquiries and requests made by attorneys, secretaries, legal assistants and staff and demonstrates this understanding through the use of effective communication.
    • Provides relevant knowledge and support to others in the Firm in a manner that increases the level of understanding of Client Accounting processes (including the ability to formulate strong work team relationships with both the partners and their secretaries.)
    • Prepares bills and internal forms including appropriate back-up required to process monthly reminder memos, A/R write-offs, retainer and on-account applications, etc.
    • Participates in answering and serving the Firm's billing and collection help line.
    • Documents meetings/discussions with partners for actions and/or later follow-up.
    • Communicates situations as they evolve that may require supervisor follow-up such as bills not returned from attorneys, difficulty fulfilling attorney requests, or workload situations that may jeopardize meeting department service guidelines and/or partner guidelines. When possible, offers solution options for various situations.
    • Actively seeks to enhance knowledge of all Client Accounting procedures and processes.
    • Maintains complete and up-to-date files for each partner and/or client.
    • Updates and maintains information for billing logs, reminder memo logs and response sheet, partner serviced list/production log and client matter logs.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Minimum one year work related experience
    • Knowledge of Excel and WordPerfect
    • Ability to work and develop skills independently
    • Ability to handle multiple projects, assignments and shifting responsibilities
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work
    • Works effectively in a team environment.
    • Exercises independent judgement when approaching problems and making decisions in pursuit of departmental goals.
    • Ability to communicate effectively
    • Deals courteously and effectively with others
    • Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions
    • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities
