The job market is slowly coming around and while the openings are not nearly as numerous as a few years ago we're seeing a steady increase in available positions.

    An excellent opportunity is available for a Desktop Support Specialist.  The incumbent will perform research, support, administrative, integration, testing and rollout responsibilities for the development of the firm’s standard desktop operating system and business software as well as provide second level technical support to the Help Desk.  This position reports to the Manager of Desktop Support
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    ·                    Developing firm desktop standard images, packaging, and desktop rollout process
    ·                    Supporting and replacing desktop, laptop, printer, PDA, telephone and other end-user firm-standard hardware, parts and peripherals as needed
    ·                    Deploying firm-standard end-user hardware equipment and peripherals as required
    ·                    Deploying firm standard desktop images, software patches, security updates to corporate headquarters and regional offices using Microsoft SMS
    ·                    Performing application integrations, testing and troubleshooting of desktop application problems
    ·                    Providing 2nd-level technical support assistance to Customer Support Center and directly to end-users as required
    ·                    Providing advanced technical support to regional offices on all related desktop applications and desktop/laptop hardware issues
    ·                    Developing and maintaining desktop security using Active Directory
    ·                    Developing and updating as necessary detailed documentation on software configurations, deployment processes, packaging procedures and test scripts
    ·                    Traveling as needed

  • Qualifications:
    ·                    3-5 years experience with Microsoft SMS, Active Directory, login scripts and Windows XP, Microsoft Office Suite and Ghost
    ·                    5-7 years of technical experience in an information technology environment, law firm experience preferred.
    ·                    Strong software and hardware troubleshooting skills including application integrations issues
    ·                    Solid knowledge of desktop imaging, automated software distribution and deployment of large scale desktop image rollouts
    ·                    Familiar with legal related software packages such as Interwoven, Workshare, Summation, Westlaw, eCopy, Elite and others
    ·                    Knowledge of networking and Microsoft SQL preferred
    ·                    MCSE, SMS certification  preferred
