The job market is slowly coming around and while the openings are not nearly as numerous as a few years ago we're seeing a steady increase in available positions.

We are cautiously optimism for the job market for the remaining year and are starting to hear projections for staff increases in 2011.  it's a perfect time to update your resume, brush up your interviewing skills and get your career on track.

  • Assists the Tax Director and Tax manager in all aspects of the Firm's tax processes including reporting to Partners and relevant taxing authorities and determines and applies appropriate tax and accounting practices.  Also supports the Tax Director on Firm tax planning and strategy.

    This position serves a key role in providing quality assurance for all aspects of tax compliance and reporting of amounts paid to and on behalf of the Partners.  This position requires deep knowledge of tax and accounting matters, the commitment to follow the policies and the ability to involve others in resolving the issues that arise.

    • US Federal, state and local tax compliance and reporting, including responding to inquiries.
    • Coordination of information for foreign tax returns
    • Sales tax returns
    • Tax audits
    • Completion of schedules for external auditors
    • Periodic reporting to partners
    • Development and maintenance of policies and procedures over taxes and partner capital
    • Process and Workpaper Documentation
    • Assist with Process Improvement and Best Practices initiatives
    • Tax Compliance and Reporting:  Assists with the preparation and issuance of the Firm's periodic tax returns, including individual partner returns (K-1's) and related estimated payments.  Coordinates and manages tax audits and communication with taxing authorities.  Coordinates process of recovering taxes advanced on partners behalf throughout the year.
    • Policies and Procedures:  Development of policies and procedures that protect Firm assets.  Participate in manager meetings and other work groups in the development of new policies or modifications of existing policies.
    • Deliverables:  Work with Tax Director et al. in Finance in completing projects and reviewing deliverables for accuracy, completeness, ease of comprehension.
    • Customer Service:  With regard to taxation, serve as key contact for all Finance and Administrative departments (in all offices, foreign and domestic), work closely with members of the Finance department to ensure that all reporting requirements are achieved.  Will provide Tax assistance to all clients of the Finance Department.
    • Vendor/Agency/Department Liaison:  Serve as a liaison between the Finance team, outside consultants and taxing authorities.
    • Reports:   Will provide various partners with special reports and/or data as requested.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • Extensive knowledge of tax regulations and laws
    • Must be able to interpret, research, and enforce these regulations and laws
    • Ability to accurately prepare tax returns and account analyses
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Outstanding work ethic and self motivated
    • Strong decision making ability
    • Working knowledge of MS Office including advanced EXCEL.  This position utilizes numerous Excel spreadsheets
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Ability to train and educate other members of tax team in policies, internal controls and tax law
    • Ability to serve as a liaison between the Finance and the "client" departments
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a high pressure environment with strict deadlines
    • Ability to make informed decisions on a daily basis that affect all aspects of the department/business
    • Must be extremely detail oriented
    • Ability to maintain confidential information
    • Ability to quickly acclimate to all software changes
    The most complex problems faced by this position are managing numerous externally imposed deadlines, dealing with the challenges caused by the global aspects of the firm (foreign exchange, differing laws, and differing basis of accounting) and optimization of the department's time and resources


    • Five plus years solid corporate of partnership taxation with large corporation, partnership, or accounting firm
    • Partnership taxation experience a plus
    • B.S. in Accounting or Finance.  M.S. Taxation preferred
    • CPA a plus
    • Continuing professional education in Tax
